how much do you guys TIP your waiter?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
..... and that's really really crappy of people to do crap like that to customers whom they think are not tipping them as much as they think they deserve.

boo hoo, cry me a river if child care don't fit their schedule to work at mcdonal's. it's not anyone's responsibility to take care of these people. they need to do something to make it work just like every other living soul with their own problems in life.
.....
that spittle comment was just for shock value. servers might never do such things, for all I know.

so much resentment almost seems punitive.
Uh, "these people" are doing something "to make it work ". they are taking responsibility, and are employed at legitimate jobs. they aren't collecting welfare (UNlike millions of living souls) which comes out of your pockets without any consent.
That's all.

Tipping is ridiculous, the cooks are doing 5x harder work, and why is serving food in a restaurant the only (popular) job that being tipped is expected? My job and many other public service jobs suck just as bad and I deal with the same crap that comes with working for customers, yet we don't get tipped. Putting on a smile and giving people the crap they ask for isn't very difficult.

Of course I still tip because I'm a good little drone.

some of you are having reading comprehension fail. I know they are employed at legitimate jobs. I have full respect for anyone going out and earning a wage. my main point in all of this debate is that it is THEIR responsibility. NOT ANYONE ELSE'S. don't go at someone's throat because they don't agree with the concept of tipping. the sense of entitlement is what disgusts me. you do your job like you are supposed to. and when someone doesn't tip you at all or tip you too little, you get offended and upset because you think you deserve more. and then out comes the sally sob story and half the min wage and they work so hard to get so little, blah blah blah. remind me why any of this is my responsibility and my problem!

cooks don't get paid below min wage, that's why they don't get tipped. the thing we are discussing is waiters, waitresses and bartenders who get paid half of min wage or whatever it is. so it's not the same

I do agree, that because of the current structure they need to get tipped. where I don't agree is that it should be 15% to 20+%. they should pay min wage and raise the price on the food so people would stop feeling entitled

i remember one time when i was around 10 or so, we ordered food from a store thats about a block away. he walked over with our food and i paid for the food and gave no tip. he looked disappointed and confused. one of my finest hours.

There's a reason it's called minimum wage, haven't looked into this but pretty sure many states require you pay this amount. I know my waiter friends get minimum wage plus tips, not sure if it's law in California though.

unless I wasn't aware, cali pays them under min if they choose to. if that's not the case, i'm not tipping ever again. or maybe i'll tip 2% or something.

can anyone confirm? so some make min wage but is it because the law requires?
