how much do you guys TIP your waiter?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I used to work installing cable not making much more than minimum and I had to be out in all the elements, hanging on the sides of houses when it's -20* before adding on the windchill, and in attics when it was over 100* outside, crawl under trailers, and deal with all sorts of disgusting people and their kids. Even got bit by a few dogs and I can count on one hand how many times I ever received a tip.

damn, see, that's my point

the double standard. the service you gave those people will entertain them daily for years to come. way more valuable than bringing you your food and checking on you a few times.

i'd tip my cable guy during the initial install but I know he don't make no measly min wage

Is that kind of what a dowery is?..It sounds almost like buying your wife, and how did they/whoever arrive at those figures?
in the old Jewish culture, dowries were "alimony-in-advance" because only the men had right to divorce wives, not vice versa. SO the dowry was insurance for the wife, so she wouldn't be left destitute if divorced.
Of course, Sumo will probably just pocket his daughters' dowries.............

in that case i'm not sure if what we practice is doweritry. made up that word just now

anyways, i'll have to ask my dad, but I was under the impression it was a purchase and not insurance.

i'll prob put my daughters' money down on a new truck or something. nice fishing boat, who knows

yeah, I specified that my example originated from a different culture.

There are non-tippers, bad tippers, generous tippers and “always 20 percent” tippers. But what do you tip the delivery guy? What’s fair for the dude schlepping food to your door so you don’t have to put on real pants? A Reddit user posted a photo of a receipt for an order his buddy recently delivered. The order was 85 pizzas for a total of $1,453, and the person who signed for it left a $10 tip. As commenters have pointed out, the receipt could be fake, or he could have received a negotiated or cash tip and the customer tossed in some extra. If not, then, yeah, we’d say $10 is pretty light, cheapskate

I´m European so I fully understand what your saying. It´s a completely different system in the US. It seems the burden of the waiter´s salary is transferred from the employer to the customer.

Here, when we go to a restaurant the price you see in the menu is what you have pay in the end (service and taxes included). IF the service is good, you tip. But you don´t have to.

I remember when I went for the first time to USA (loong time ago in my college finalist´ trip, so in a short budget...) it was kind of a shock. I saw something in the menu for 50 but in the end had to accrue taxes and tip and it costed 60+...

One more thing:

Even this being the system in the US, I fai lto understand the concept of tipping a fixed percentage of the bill.

If the idea is to remunerate the specific work of serving ("waitering", I don´t if the word exists), isn´t it the same to serve a 3 items 100USD meal or a 3 items 200USD meal?

The waiter that get´s lucky enough to get a table where the customers ask for the more expensive meal gets 2x the tip of the other waiter. And they did exactly the same...

again, $1000 pizza doesnt mean you get $100 tip. not even close. 10 bucks is on the generous side.

dude, my old cultures are nuts. you couldn't get away with it here in the states. you can literally kidnap a girl and marry her. one of my aunts got kidnapped. my uncle had like 4 guys with him, they came to the place while my grandparents were out on the farm and they literally caught her and dragged her away. my dad was just a kid at the time and he'd crack up telling us the story. he said there was a trail where they dragged her. you can see the tall grass pulled from their roots by my aunt, lol. well, she married him and they had kids and they both stayed married until they passed. it was meant to be

And people give Rhianna a hard time for sticking with Chris... sheesh, its not like he kidnapped her.
