Jeez little man, tough crowd. I'll give you a hand but you can do it! That should show them your ethics is good.
Leccy is sold by the kilowatt hr. What you pay for a kilowatt hr should be on your bill. 1 KW/Hr is the amount of leccy 1000 watts of fishy equipment uses in 1 hour.
To work out how much leccy your equipment is using, find how many watts it is, turn that into kilowatts, ie 250 watts will be 0.250 kilowatts. You just divide by 1000.
Then work out how many hours you use it for. So for the lights thats 4 hrs a day, 4 * 365 = 1460 hrs a year.
Now if your lights were 250 watts like the heater the cost would be:
Cost = (kilowatts power) * (time switched on) * (cost of a kilowatt)
= 0.250 * 1460 * 0.10 (10p for us, look on your bill)
= £36.50 a year to run the lights.
If you want it per month just divide the cost by 12. Do this for all your pumps lights and heaters and you'll know what everything costs and have a good idea of where is best to make your savings. You may be best keeping two tanks, and only lighting them when you want to look at the fish as some above suggested.
The most difficult thing is going to be guessing how often your heater is running for...Do you have central heating in your house? If your house is a constant temperature, you can calculate the cost of the heater in a different way.
