and what is your special interest .. and what area are you most familiar with.. would love to hear about it..

I've only been keeping aquariums for 3 years. started with a 10 gallon with goldfish(all of them died within the week). then we went big and got a 20 gallon with tetras cories, etc.
I've done a lot of reading online on forums and articles, but I know I have a lot to learn.
my interests within the hobby are pretty broad. I am trying to keep a planted tank, but the algae seems to have a mind of it's own. when I get it under control I'll make it into a community aquarium with like 20 neon tetras and some shrimp(it's a 55g).
I also have a 90 gallon which doesn't have much in it but I'd love to put some bichers in it and some more plecos.

Thank you for reply.. i do not think we ever learn enough or know enough but it sounds like your doing pretty good in three years.. Do you think these forums help you? I have found they open my eyes better then any book.. and you get all the pro's and cons about a subject and all the different opinions of what people like..and how every one is an individual with their own way of doing it..so i hope all those people who do have knowledge know that we appreciate their patience and taking the time out to repeat the same answers to the same questions..

I have been keeping fish for ten years, and african rifts lake cichlids for the last five.I tried to "go monster" with a Jag,a TSN,a pike,a P.bass and an oscar and it only lasted like a month before I got tired of them constantly trying to kill eachother and eating me out of house and home.
now Im back to africans, and have much more experiance with malawis than tangs.

I have many tanks filled with African cichlids and i only started with them 2 years ago so it is nice to know who to ask when i need to ask about them.. do you also breed.. .i cannot get into the monsters killing each other so it does take big tanks and lots of them to prevent that.. African cichlids are great fish.. and they can be little monsters too..

ive been keeping for 10 years id say im most versed in filtration i like to keep tokyo style tanks so monster filtration is a must :)

22 years I got my firstfish when I was 4.My special intrests lie in the Polypterids-Anne

Lets see I ve been keeping fish for about 2 years... I am an African hoarder... but due to recent citations I ve had to downgrade - but hoping to upgrade soon =) Africans are my area of intrest and I dont know much about them - but there are so many (prob not even discovered yet) that its a never ending learning process. I enjoy breeding some of my africans when given the chance and what nots. I am also in the process of having and learning about planted tanks - I have a 15 gal one in the works right now. My next project is to learn about sa/ca cichlids.

Ive had tanks since i was like 5 years old but i dont even really count them as tanks... Raphael cats, and breeding mollies... i quit the hobby for a good 10 years, and would just let my uncle(inspiration) have the setups, so i wouldnt have to maintain them, i could just watch... then when he moved out he gave me his on the wall 55G aquarium, thats when i got interested again, and i decided to make the most aggressive tank i could with a 55... I had a JAG and a JEwel, Aro, blue lobsters... well needless to say, I got sick of seeing my fish kick the crap out of eahc other and rip all their fins off... i dont kno why people would spend thousands on setups that all the fish look like crap... pirahnas main example.. Now i am really becoming more and more inept with the SW setups.. im like a sponge right now, trying to take in as much info as i can...But i say i have MOST central american Cichlids down, and can care for em all Im setting up a 55G reef/lionfish tank as of right now...so my collection is as follows

90G -community (Ray/Blue Dempsey/hopefully female 2 JD's/Clown Pleco / Firemouth/Glass knife/CLown Knife(which i really want to exchange for another Glass)
55G - Breeder Convict tank with 3 male and 3 female, producing like rabbits...
55G - in process of getting all the right parts for success/ will be a reef/lionfish!
20G - For baby convicts to grow up a bit before i feed them to the CK
10G - Evil JEwel Cichlid that almost killed my EBJD way back when.. Never will get any more then 10 gallons for a punishment for his violence, but still looks Brilliantly red!
10G - Which im fixing up to give to my Gf for Xmas for her Dorm room
5G - for guppies

This is all in my room at my house.. not bad for a college kid, but i got a long way to go... for me to fulfill my addiction
