Yesterday I was on the train and going back home. It wasn't late at night and I wasn't dressed up in a provocative way. Then this guy comes up to me and says hi...I know he is about to chat me up from the way he is watching me so I'm like hi then I walk away. THEN he starts to follow me!!!!!! I start to panic so I go and sit further down in the carriage inside the train and he follows me again :( so I look up at him and I say "can I help you?" then he says "can i have your number" and i say "im sorry but i'm already taken" but he doesnt leave me alone :irked:. I get off the train and start going back to my place...but an hour and a half later he is still following me around!!!!! I'm like omg he is going to attack me or something why is he following meeeeeeeeeeee so I go into the police station and sit down. Then this cute looking policeman drives me home :D

But that was so scary seriously I always get sleazy men looking at me but this guy just went overboard!!! Imagine you're on your own and some guy hits on you then won't stop following you for two hours :( we aren't allowed guns here haha but is there any other way I could deal with this because I know there is always a chance it can happen again. So what makes a guy back off from a woman?

butterfly knife, or at the very least pepper spray. and as always ahve the local police office number in your cell speed dial.

try to keep to public places with lots of people and if someone is peristant like that call the police.

hmm i dont think we're allowed pepper spray either here. that guy just shocked me because he was soooo persistant.

I've had a few incidents like that the past, so I totally understand how you feel.

Basically, what I do is just yell at them and embarrass them, or I mention if they keep following that I'll call the police. And if they want to continue to follow me then I'll be happy to call the police to let them know.

Just stay in public places where you aren't alone and all should be good. I do carry pepper spray sometimes, but I'm scared that I'll end up injuring myself more than the person.

Other than that there really isn't much that can be done...

She lives in the policed state known as the UK, she can't use a knife. Pepper spray I would think is ok to use.

We're not allowed pepper spray in Holland either, but the way I figure it is that I'd rather have with me in case of an emergency and be safe than follow that rule.

I'd rather stay alive thank you very much!

Wow... Sorry that had to happen Neer. I probably would have been a little freaked if I were you too. You definitely did the right/smart thing by getting a ride home from a police officer.

Some people just have no boundaries. They see a good looking girl, which is a bit of an understatement with you (no, i'm not being "sleazy" lol), and they don't know how to handle themselves.

A man following you like that is a bit more than just 'having no boundaries', though. People like that, they just don't care. You need to be careful of people that don't care.

Anyway glad you made it home safe. ;)

Figure out some self defense plan. Sadly you'll probably have to deal with it for most your life.

I don't usually travel by myself at night but this was in broad daylight and it was in public where everyone was walking about so I wasn't worried about going anywhere on my own.
