How to feed my spotted gars.

I finally caught one of my spotted gars eating a couple pellets this morning! Very glad. Haven't seen the other one eat a pellet yet but it's investigating. I gave in and threw in 2-3 feeder fish a couple of days ago. Ever since they ate the feeders they have been much more active. I sort of gave up with feeding them pellets but this morning I threw some in out of curiosity and one of them ate! Not much but maybe 3 hikari sticks. But still a big win for me! Thanks everyone for the advice

Great to hear they are eating. Be careful with feeding goldfish should treat prior to feeding.

I would totally stop the feeder fish there is no need for them. Gars are fine without food for a little while too but the more you give in and use feeders the harder it will be to wean them off

Gars and ive kept probably 15 over last 20 years all take pellets eventually and all take frozen foods within a couple of weeks usually but at first they generally wont look for it I always find I have to drop it near their snout if at the surface or infront of them and just above in the water column
