How to fiberglass Plywood Tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes and if your using a brush clean it off. Resin on your hands is VERY annoying to.

If you are doing a large area, use a roller. Place the fiberglass on a smooth suface pour some resin on it. Roll it with the roller like painting a wall, being sure to get out the bubbles. Brush some resin on the surface you will be applying the fiberglass too, lift the wet glass and apply it. Rolling or dabbing it with the brush.(You will need to buy a roller for fiberglass.)

Depends on the thickness of the layers. Mine has 3 layers which makes it about 1/4" thick.

I've worked with fiberglass cloth and resin and catalyst and all that stuff reparing a surfboard. I'd rather spend the money on glass or any other useable material than work with that mess on such a huge scale.

PAIN IN THE ***!!!

Ah come on you gotta love resin all over your hands and the 'glass sticking to it, then getting on your skin and you start to itch!

Trust me with all the gorilla glue on my hands, i dont think it will matter much
Ahh yes monkey muck...
You gotta love GG. Acetone will clean that off too.

Mix a hotcoat for the first coat on the plywood. No matting or roving just resin with hardner...after that cures, go to town with the roving and matting...

here is a pic of the roller head

Whats roving? using the roller?

Does the roller have to be cleaned after each batch of resin? or does it peel off of it?

So zennzo your saying cover the hole tank in just the resin before laying actual fiberglass with it?
