how to get it in.... for cheap....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yeap so do i, or a crane, would be nice quick and easy, once tank is sat on the lawn and door frame removed its quite straight forward.... so options onto lawn would be:

1. crane, no idea of cost.

2. scaff towers, I-beams and chain blocks.

3. down that nasty alley.

4. mystery suggestions?

the alley option is cheapest obviously, but if we could get it sat on rollers at the garden end of the alley im not sure we could move it as one end would still be sat in the alley, unless now this is ridiculous but im thinking this tank is quite strong too? its 15mm glass.... what if we did the roller idea but, keep the tank upright down the length of the alley?
its nutts i no but could it work???
lucky we have lots of old carpet laying around the garage!!!
any suggestions of what to use for rollers?

as far as move goes lay a carpet out on to fround then place the end and stand tank on end. then remove windows jsut the hinges so u just need to screw em back in. and btw its easier to move a tank with 4-6ppl then 20 and deff more easier with 4. i would have 4 on outside 6 on inside(2 guiders 4 lifters) and then thats it also make sure when u place tank on ground u place it on 2 sticks so that u can get ur fingers under!!!

more pics, door at end of alley leads to double garage and it could come that way, but, it would still need to be stood up at end of alley, so may as well tip it up though the gate.... and keep it on its end, roll it down alley, move from patio and lay it down, before turning it through the patio doors into lounge ext...

I dont think it is possible to get it through the window with out completely removing the hole unit:

if i can figure how to stably roll it down the alley on tracks, or rollers, or would a wharehouse pallet pump truck doit??? then maybe use a big winch to drag it down the alley????

that would work surely? get pump truck in alley, load it on its end through the gate, well wrapped it carpet, slowly drag down alley, unload onto patio???? easy... lol!

i'll board the surface of the alley path with wood to make it a clean run for the truck too.... if it will work...

yes use ply
measure the internal dimesions of the whole unit and see if by opeing windows and unscrewing them at hinges it fits??? btw y not carry it down the alley?

cos i dont see how four people, two at each end with only 30" space to share can carry this thing down alley and pump truck is easy to come by. tank would have to be fliped at the end of the alley no matter what i think, to get it round the bend... and also if it came through gate so pump truck and that approach seems logical....

oh and what all the fuss is about:
