how to get it in.... for cheap....

anyone in uk got any experience with keeping tropical tanks in the shed all year around? is that an option? not that i want to in the slightest but if it came to it....

I use a wooden tray/platform with wheels to move and manouvre these sized tanks. I used to use a skateboard but I decided to make something which can turn on the spot. Just stand the tank on one end and you will be able to roll this down the alley and around 90 degree corners by yourself. Alternatively a stairwalking trolley or fridge trolley will do. (Just use the fastening belt). http://www.camdenhire.com.au/products/images/thumbs/FT_Fridge_trolley_512_thumb.jpg

Getting the tank through the window is another story but it looks possible. Ive done this into a second story with forklift once. Does your roof and ceiling come off?

nah, it dont need to, can just be laid down on patio and carried through patio doors, once at end of alley....
that fridge trolley up to the task??? looks dodgy! four wheels vertical sound safer...

And then when its in, what to run in way of filter.... big sump, is 4'x2'x15" big enough and can some anyone recommend a pump to give around 8-10 times turnover? also heating it effectively is my other question? they less plug sockets i can use the better, like max 8 really.
i worked volume to be just shy of 450g....

4 wheeled stable trolley/platform is definitely better but not as manoeuvrable around corners unless the wheels can turn like an office chairs wheels. I ended up making my own trolley which can spin on the spot but since you only want to use this once, a fridge trolley will do. Easily available from hire places and I have used them frequently for tanks.

Filtration - what about a small overhead trickle?

this would be new to me? explain more or link me please!
this tank is 3x bigger than any thing ive touched before, and only ever dealt with canister and hob filters so please excuse if im not 100% bout every thing. i will do this and do this right.....

Trolley wont need to turn corners just shuttle up the alley if u catch my drift....

filter wise, could i run two large pond filters? one off the weir an one of a suck pipe near bottom of the tank? then run them back to spray bars? how affective would this be? and how large a turn over could i get away with?

Youve got a very nice home! Please dont destroy too much of it getting the tank in! I had a friend that dealt with a similar dilemna. His solution was to sell the tank and then buy a nearly identical one from a place that did "free delivery and installation". They cursed him the whole time but over two days they managed to get it in and re-weatherstrip his window. They also profusely apologized for having to remove his window. lol

Idea for moving..... Being a single fishkeeper recently moved to a new city I have a lil experience in moving things by yourself.

PVC. I used this to move all my larger tanks. Just get 4-5 3 foot long pieces of say 1.5 inch lay em down and set the tank on it, roll it, then when you see a piece of PVC you allready rolled over pick it up and put it in front of the tank. Just keep doing this till you get to where you need to go.
