Have you ever been up close to a Blue Heron? They're over 4 feet tall! I doubt too many owls would mess with one. When I worked at a Raptor Rehab center we got Blue Heron in one day that was found all tangled in fishing line. I'll tell you what, that was one big, angry bird!
yeah blues are big ba birds but a eurasian eagle owl could later it i bet

as a pet... i dont think i dont need to explain that tho

i dont know wat type bird it is i have seen gray egrets, white herons, white egrets, great blue herons and some type of very large hawk eat my fish and my 12" turtle and just standing by the pond i am going to plant mangroves tolerant of freshwater that i will raise in my fw tank and plant them in the pond so at least if all else fails my replacement turtles, frogs, and fish can hide but i haveant seen many birds since the big mountain coyotes migrated to here from the hills around my house and annilated the smaller subspeices of coyote that are native to the valley here that the birds can get away from i mean anything as big as a heron can get away from one or two 20 pound vermin but against four or five 75-80 pound coyotes i think not but anyways were can u get these scarecrows becuase they always strike during the spring and summer so i want to be prepared

yotes in cali are very agressive depending on wat subspecies they are very ancient in california going back to the ice age so their are alot of envirmental adapted subspecies the yotes i am used to seeing are california lowland valley coyotes that max out at 30 pounds at the most they are harmless to all except verry small dogs, cats or rabbits but as of now the dominant coyote in socal is the california mountain coyote that lokks more like a minature wolf that gets up to 70 pounds, has thick fur is super aggresive towards any other canid and i have seen them in groups of up to 12 animals i have begun to see them here alot ever since two years ago sunce then i have not seen the smaller ones and i think the larger coyotes ate them all but also yotes here have a reputation of being fearless of humans and agressive the first reported fatal attack on peaple by yotes was in california and i forgot to mention the mountain yotes have been known to take down 300 pound male mule deer so i dont think a heron would have any chance against them

If the tank is on the smallish side you could cover it with a mesh or something;)

a shotgun, or a dog, or geese, your choice (shotgun works the best)

Haha are you going to get the geese to fly into the heron and make it crash land into your pond?
