try being specific. I don't think there are many saltwater stores down your way. Go with a really good salt or fresh dont try both at first then branch as things pick up. But see what is avaliable first in your area.

i've also thought about opening a store in my area, so i've always asked local owners a lot of questions. some of the things that i've been told/picked up on are that mammal supplies are big sellers (dog food, rodent bedding, etc.), feeder rodents are huge, saltwater especially corals, and odd ball fresh water fish are always good sellers (along with platies, neons, etc.). it's also helpful to have good connections with local breeders, and suppliers. if you know someone into reptiles have them try breeding, a bearded dragon (common, but high in sales) can have 2-3 clutches a year w/ apx. 20 babies per clutch. selling at $40 - $60 a pop you have decient profit. like i said connections like that really help. also w/ pricing if you sell for lower costs (even though you won't be making as much profit) you have a much higher turnover rate (regenerating your profit), and happier more loyal customers.
that's my two cents anyway.
