Got a top view photo during a water change, the parents are not happy about the water change, they look to be moving them again.

I don’t see any movement in the clutch so I’m not sure if hey move eggs or only the wrigglers, they moved them once from the original pit

They are most definitely wrigglers, I seen a couple of them hop, they will soon be free swimmers, it’s so exciting!

Mine have not moved thier kids. But they are the only cichlids in the tank. Like yours the female normally stays with the eggs/fry as dad runs off anything that gets close, be it fish, me, gravelvac....mean little sucker he is......
They have breed like 5 or 6 times now, the fry get to wiggeler stage then disappear overnight. There is a pleco and 4 kuli loaches as well, they may have a hand in fry removal.

It’s hard to see what’s going on but it looks like they are moving them back over to the original pit bc of the water change, the mom looks quite nervous, she might even be eating them (I doubt it though) as they keep going back to original pit.

They are quite fantastic parents though, sometimes the female will signal the dad to watch over the fry while she stretches her fins, then she resumes position...I haven’t seen her eat u less it floats past her.

TRhats unfortunate about your wrigglers, I’m going to bet it was the Pleco. I have no bottom feeders in this tank, not even snails.

My remaining two HRPs are also starting to pair up I believe, so I have posted an add on my local for sale site.

I was thinking of getting a second female due to how rambunctious my male has been lately. But, the ones the Wet Spot just got in were to small to tell them apart. Tho she is getting some respite from him now due to him growing to big to fit into her hiding home now.

It seems the parents have moved the babies again, I keep missing the move with 12 hour work days, this time they have moved them into a pit between the glass, a rock, and a plant. Very easy to see them this time.

I want to say there is between 30-40 babies, they all still have their yolk sacks, I can see them but my phone doesn’t focus on them very well, not to mention it looks like my glass needs a little cleaning.

They should be free swimming in a few days

The babies have been moved again, most of them are now free swimming. There’s a couple still trying to swim
