Discus. A little difficult to keep and not cheap, but beautiful. I work at our LFS and we have a 55 with a breeding pair. There are many kinds of other fish in there, including cardinal tetras. We even keep a male crowntail betta in there as well as a school of young roseline sharks, german rams and some younger syno. cats. Everybody is happy. The discus lay eggs on a regular basis (although are quickly eaten).
Niger cats will eat smaller fish. I have owned three, my first two were never kept with anything really small, but they seemed harmless. The third one (the one I have currently) had to be removed from my community tank after all my smaller (thin-body rather than high-body) Tetras disappeared. When I mentioned it to the owner of a LFS he just laughed and said he had a Niger that would eat Rosy Reds by the net-full.
Won't work, my 5-6 inch black ghost knife already ate a batch of glow light tetras in my tank. Will be much much worse when he grows up. They are nocturnal predators
I keep fancy goldfish with livebearers. The common (single-tails) eat the smaller fish, since they are more agile.
I'm sure you could keep neons or maybe even WCMM's with them without a problem. The fancy goldfish need a heater, but I think 74 would be a good happy medium as far as temperature goes for both types of fish.
