just come to texas gator gar are not rare at all and people say its a shame but yall dont say nothing about bowfishing carp or anything else. and he ate it so there is no reason for people to say its a shame

+1. I posted the same thing on one of the other 4 threads about this. There is absolutely no shame in doing what this man did, people need to realize that. It's Texas, HUGE gator gar thrive in the lakes and rivers around here. You don't see anybody from texas complaining about it, just the people who live outside the state who really just don't know.

I know there're in Texas but here in Florida we used to have a bunch now there're fairly rare. Also, I was basing my facts off river monsters so I'm not sure how accurate that is.

Also no one complains about bow fishing carp because they are every where and same goes with bat rays and mullet. I've only caught 2 gator far before and they were both under two feet. We just used to have so many before now a days. But I guess that is said for all species of wild fish

The shame.. is going after spawning fish.... at least he ate it.. but its a shame they don't have the same protection most game fish do.

how many gator gar have you even seen that larger than 6ft? and carp is a very reproductive species that can spawn once to twice a month while gator gar can only spawn once a year! your comparison is stupid!

most people from Texas don't really know about this! many of them don't even know there are 4 species of gar in Texas and just call every gar they see gator gar!
Alligator gar can grow up to 15 ft but now we rarely see any grow pass 6ft! A 6ft gator gar is about 20-25 years old so that gar in this post should be over 50 years old, still have a long life to live! it is absolutely a shame to kill a fish like that!

haha i see 6 foot gar weekly bro and i kno what a gator gar looks like and who cares how long they live fishing is fishing if you dont like it o well yall are just made yall cant catch monsters that big

I can see 6 ft gar daily but the question is, how many of them are actually 6ft and larger? and what you say is for a kid, not for a person with knowledge! and I caught gator gar that over 6ft before, it just I'm not stupid enough to kill them!

most people from Texas don't really know a sh*t about this! many of them don't even know there are 4 species of gar in Texas and just call every gar they see gator gar!

go out and see it for yourself! I can say that all I heard is people in Texas call every gar alligator gar! the number of people I've met that can really see a gar is not an alligator gar out of thousands of people is not that many! Texas have a lot of gator gar is because Texas park and wildlife department been stocking them every years and having the 1 daily bag limit on them! if they stop stocking them, they will disappear before you even notice it!
