I want to know what brought you into the fishkeeping hobby, be it friends, family or going to a pet store and a certain fish catching your eye.... I'll post mine once everybody gets it going.

Oscars. When I was a kid I loved them. I had a pair in a 30g with a common pleco. They all lived for about a year. I thought that was pretty good at the time. Poor fish. Now I know better.

well i dont really know... just popped in my head that i wanted a fish tank really bad so my ma got me a 10 gallon with two PACUS! ever since then i never stopped raising fish! gosh its been what, 9 years i think? maybe 10. guess fishkeeping is in my bloodline or genes.

A friend of mine gave me an older fish tank with no lid. I found that it wasn't much more money to get a 55g. It just kind of started there.

I had fish as a kid, but I don't think the passion really hit me until much later.

pretty much how mine started :) just starting actually my first bigger tank 75g not much to u guys but alot for me from my ten. just getting the basics down and learning everyday and i find it all very interesting.

I made eye contact with a red belly piranha and knew i had to have a school. So i went to wal-mart and bought a 12gal tank and filter and heater. Genius right? But i bought 3. Didnt know what i was getting into.
After a couple youtube videos i fell in love, and upgraded to a 55gal. They lived for about 3 years and all die being transfered into a 75 :( poor guys. but then i found cichlids :D

I started out with African clawed frogs, I had a ten gallon tank for them, and fed them feeder fish. Lol when I was 8 my mom made a community tank, all of which died, at age 9 my 3 clawed frogs died..=( I got 2 more about 2 years later and still have them. My freshmen year of highschool, in august I decided I wanted fish, lol so I got another ten gallon tank and put a bunch of gouramis and a clown loach in it, no water conditioner... The clown loach died within 5 min. Both tanks were disgusting so I got rid of the ten gallon fish tank and put them all in a one gallon, they all died eventually. Then I started my crayfish phase where I had a tank full of crayfish, eventually I hated those and by the summer of my sophomore year I started on guppies, and now I have a 75, 38 2 10's and a 1 gallon fry tank.... And I still have my clawed frogs lol.

I HATED fish, I thought they where the dumbest thing ever, I mean what could you do with them? My ex wanted a tank, I kicked and screamed and finally broke down and bought a filter and heater for a 10G that was in the house I just bought.

So off to the fish store we went, while asking the guy at petsmart, Do I just let the water site for 24 hours before adding fish; I saw them. They where BALA SHARKS and I knew I had to have them. However after learning that you don't just let water sit, I figured I had some learning to do. I garbed the stuff for the 10G and went home to research the internet.

I found out how big these fish got, so I went and bought a 55 gallon tank and 6 bala sharks. After about 4 weeks of fighting the cycle I barley understood I joined MFK. MFK took me from a Noob to a beginner.

i guess from my aunt always having kept fish since i could remember and i always liked to catch newts and salamanders and keep them before I kept fish
