That's a good idea. Never thought of that.
New update on this, I've been back and forth on which substrate to go with, from moler clay, to light gravel; to the current pea gravel and play sand.
Looks stale just now, but hoping the plants incoming will change it up to give it a bit of asymmetry

Nice look, really like the centre piece spiderwood. Do you think you might have issues with the sand mixing with the gravel?
I don't believe so, the sand is play sand; so it's very, very fine and easily falls under the gravel. If I lose the embankment, I'd probably get a sieve and quickly reset it, but I don't see it happening too soon
