I reckon about 4-5 inches, I'll need to be careful of anaerobic nasties gathering in there

I was skeptical until you added plants. That will show me not to doubt your scaping ability. Looking good though, just watch out for the play sand getting into power filters and such.

In a pyramid fashion from the back, being the highest point; descending down to the front

I've got a large sponge, and a power head; steering away from canisters, as I am not too keen on them.

I'm more about the scape and plants, so I'm hoping the minnows won't have too heavy a bioload, along with a bunch of cherry shrimp I'll add in future
