Hey all, am starting a thread for us lucky keepers to share our hybrid PBBxcongicus baby bichirs as they grow.

Please only post if you own them or especially relevant! :)
I have 2x of these special hybrids from Panjalu_aquatics (Indonesia breeding project), through Hao <3

- both bichir are eating broken and now full 5mm sinking carnivore pellets, tilapia, and cut shrimp so far, very good eaters. One has a more checkered pattern and the other with more traditional large vertical bars. Different head designs have been coming through recently. (18 Sep 2025)
- 40g breeder, 2 sponges and a circulation/wavemaker, amazon cheapo garnet mostly. (Barton in the big tank for later)

Looking forward to seeing these develop!
Side note to people who see this. These are from wild caught parents. First time ever that we've seen wild caught Polypterus congicus from Congo bred with wild caught Polyterus bichir from Chad.

wish i didnt have white ass sand

December 1 2025 two hybrids are still pretty different, mostly behaving still in the 40b. Nearly 8" as of this post when measured during a water change last night. 1000009234.png

Bigger hybrid (front) I measured in the water during water change March 2nd 2026 at 12.5" exactly. Has more browns/golden base than most of the rest I've seen from the hybrid batch. Both eating northfin jumbo fish 6mm pellets everyday primarily1000010111.jpg
