This is my big orange fish. It is 4 years old. It has been alone in a 75 gallon tank since the day it killed everything in the water. I have tried both bigger and smaller red devils Midas and undesirable flowerhorn of both male and female with no success. It will relentlessly chase and kill anything that moves. I tried putting it in a 220 with other fish of all types and it was a no go it just started mutilating everything in site. I would like to know if there is a way to sex this fish without physical interaction. And if possible an idea as to what it is in order to attempt to find it a mate. I am lead to believe that S.A. cichlids won't show there true development of color until they attempt to spawn. Anything other then a hybrid fish that might be a girl or boy would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.20170508_215127.jpg 20170508_214952.jpg 20170508_215134.jpg 20170508_215127.jpg 20170508_214952.jpg 20170508_215134.jpg

I'm pretty sure its a Midas... no tank mates ever. Not sure of sexing I.D tho.

Oh no it had tank mates it just never let them live. I had a 220gallon with a 20+inch dovii a 2ft pletco 2 10inch devils a 14inch Senegal bichir and 3 8+inch festea. This thing went into that established tank at 4 inches. It was a long shot due to what is already there. Within 2 days it had put on what looked to be an inch of girth and almost 2 in length. It lasted about 3 weeks with it getting noticeably bigger by the day. In 6 hours At just over 8 inches it killed everyone. If they wernt belly up they were twitching in that unmistakable spiral of doom. So it has been in the 75 ever since. Its in fish jail for 8 counts of fishslaughter. The lfs said that it was a flemingo red devil. So Midas was a thought.

I've always known these as piebald or cream sickle midas. It's a male...middle pic has the best shot of its vent. I had one that turned all white.

You could try with egg crate divider and have the spawning rock under it. I've heard of people breeding extremely aggressive cichlids this way.
