I met Davey today (btw nice to meet you Davey). We talked, walked around the LFS for a while, and then Darwin went to his new home. I'm excited about stocking my tank all over again. Me and D had some good times, and we had more times where he hid, and I stared at an empty tank. Nevertheless, I learned a lot, and to me, learning is what it's all about. I know Darwin's gonna have a good home. Maybe Davey will post some pics of the new setup when he gets settled in.

Just thought I'd let you guys know. :banhim:

it's all cool Armand, Coop just went undercover for us so that he can get his hands on some feeders...I mean cichlids and ultimately he'll be our main feeder supplier ;)

I am very enthusiastic about learning. My interests cover a wide range of topics. I don't do anything halfway so when I got into P's I got all the way in. Unfortunately when something stops being interesting for me I'm just as apt to abandon it in favor of the latest thing that interests me. There's a lot to learn about piranhas. I'm still hooked on the academic aspect of piranhas. Unfortunately I have a small tank and I'll be stuck with it for the foreseeable future. Also, having one subadult serra in a tank is boring when that's the only fish you have. I loved D. I'm glad I held out until a forum member could find a home for him (MFKers do it better!) I became interested in the social/ fry raising behavior of cichlids and I knew it was a matter of time before I had to have some. It's really quite fascinating. I'll be back with some P's when we move, a shoal and a decent size tank.

... traitor!? I am wounded. Don't worry you guys can't get rid of me that easy. I'll still be around drooling over pics of Ps and reading OPEFE, but my tank will be full of babies and fish that don't hide from me all the time. :D

 yeah man, personally I couldn't keep any other fish after keeping P's, maybe a couple of gars but they grow too big, oscars could be a good option they are very nice and smarther than P´s, however to tell true, after having P's I would find almost any other spicies boring despite P's being sort of skittish but that's me. :)

Cheers.

yeah but you've got a shoal man. They interact with each other, they swim together, the feed together. Have you ever kept a serra solo in a tank? It's cool when they're big, but when they're not....

It's like looking at an empty tank. Even that would be ok if you have several tanks and you just wanted to keep a serra because they're beautiful and rare, but when you live in a tiny apartment and just have one tank its not all that fun. It's like having one tank dedicated to a pleco or something equally outgoing, and my comp was MORE outgoing than most serras. Apples and oranges.

Whatever though I really don't need to explain myself to anybody. If I wanted to keep ****in guppies I'd keep guppies. Probably less skittish than piranhas anyway...

I know what you mean, a big black fish in a tank with nothing.. kinda lonely and boring (but you can always try to mix in cherry shrimps or adonis pleco, at least mine doesnt eat them YET / more color to the setup)

Maybe you can try flowerhorn, more color and interactive

puppy style like a koi but much smaller

^^

my comp ate everything, plecos, cichlids, inverts, etc including a JD a good 2" bigger than he was.

I already got some more fish. Breeding pair of F1 wild green fliers.
