yeah but you've got a shoal man. They interact with each other, they swim together, the feed together. Have you ever kept a serra solo in a tank? It's cool when they're big, but when they're not....

It's like looking at an empty tank. Even that would be ok if you have several tanks and you just wanted to keep a serra because they're beautiful and rare, but when you live in a tiny apartment and just have one tank its not all that fun. It's like having one tank dedicated to a pleco or something equally outgoing, and my comp was MORE outgoing than most serras. Apples and oranges.

Whatever though I really don't need to explain myself to anybody. If I wanted to keep ****in guppies I'd keep guppies. Probably less skittish than piranhas anyway...

Oh well, I don't know if you remember my constanltly saying in past posting that if is better a schoal than a solo P's spicies tank, I have always thought that....:duh:

Anyway ain't you angry, are you?.

 yeah man, personally I couldn't keep any other fish after keeping P's, maybe a couple of gars but they grow too big, oscars could be a good option they are very nice and smarther than P´s, however to tell true, after having P's I would find almost any other spicies boring despite P's being sort of skittish but that's me. :)

Cheers.

if you have a big enough tank, you should try to get arowana, not sure if Asian Aro is legal for you to get, if not then a Jardini will do.
Had one before and it was the meanest, the greediest and the most aggressive eating machine I've ever owned. 180g is minimum tank requirement and they eventually can out grow it since it is capable of getting to 3ft in size.

here's picture of a member's jardini, 22" I believe and is in a 8ft (300g) tank.

not skittish at all and very active and will interact with you (cuz everytime you walk towards the tank he think it's feeding time) as soon as I can get a tank big enough I'll get one for sure.

just curious, how big was the eclipse tank???

and that's the tank to hold the compress??

it's a 37g. It was alright for one 5 inch serra. When he grew about an inch (little less) it was still okay, but I knew a clock was ticking. When we had to move all of a sudden I knew I wasn't going to be able to keep him in there. I guess it was irresponsible of me to pick him up in the first place.

The LFS where I met davey had a monster ass jardini, and a silver. HUGE.

Did you meet Davey at Riverdale pets? too shame that the owner doesn't want you take pictures of his stock, that's free advertisement for him. unless he has something to hide.

nah at some LFS in northern VA "creatures and critters." No p's, some gars, one pbass, some cichlids, and two aros, and standard fare.

Although me and davey did talk about meeting up some time and going to riverdale together. They got the P's for sure. Kind of a weird setup though, and they're not exactly overly friendly either. You still down for a riverdale trip davey (if you out there)? It's only about 15 min from my new place.

They got big rhoms but nothing super duper nice besides those yellow piraya.

yes, I agree, aros are also an excellent pick, but an aro leads you to the same problem one has with gars, the huge size they reach, which makes them not the best option for the average fish keeper, although we have to say, us, P' keepers ain't the regular fish keepers either...:D

I do agree that you need one massive tank to properly house them as they are pretty active unlike piranha and get big fast (the jardini I had hit 18" in about 1 year and I got him at 4". cuz I fed him like a pig, lol). but isn't that the whole point of MFK? we don't call ourselves MONSTER FISH KEEPERS for nothing~!!
