so how do you tan them... lights on longer, direct sunlight, bright lights?

Tanning is specifically for red arowana. It refers to placing a light tube on the side of the tank so that it gets the whole of the aro's body. There are a lot of different theories as to which setup is best, but I'm using a 3' 18000K white tube in an underwater housing inside the tank.

Today was the first day using this, but I should be able to see some results in a few weeks..

I bought a 18" super red Asian aro from Pontianak, Indonesia ... my Christmas present to myself for the next 5 years! :D

The tank is still settling down and there have been a few scraps, but nothing serious. The water doesn't usually have that much debris in it ... I had just removed some floating plants that didn't work out.

Enjoy! :nilly:

Thanks again for all the comments bros! :D:D:D

I've had him for a week now. The comm seems to be settling down nicely. Even though the SR it the smallest of the dragons in length, he's definately become the alpha of the group. The greenie is very chilled and seems to go about carry on doing his own thing. The jar is downright scared of the SR, but he's too quick for the SR to do much to him.

The SR pics on my azul a little too, but the azul is also too quick and the SR doesn't really put much into his attacks.

Otherwise they're all eating well and displaying awesome colors, so I'm hoping for the best. I've just finished installing my second denitrator and I'm busy with a SW-style DSB in a bucket...

Cheers ;)
