A little update -- Bloop won't be having his next photo shoot until the 14th (Valentine's Day!), but I was able to catch him playing tank mediator after a water change. (This video is cross-posted to that thread, too.) Yeah, it's kind of a weird scene in the growout tank. :P

Bloop has been with me for 4 months now. :)

In this first pic, someone is sulking because I did a VERY RUDE thing to... /HER/! Yes, Bloop was hauled out for a measurement and venting today. 5" without tail, 6" with. Seems like others are right about orinos growing slow.

As for the camera, I am using a Nikon D3100 D-SLR. I use the action preset and photograph further from the tank - I feel that this allows more lioght to get to the lens and allows a faster shutter speed (this may just be superstition though, haha!). I crop a large amount of the edges and clean up stray bubble streaks in Photoshop.
 
Miss The Bloop has been here for six months now. I'd say she's grown about 1/2 inch in a month (?). Slow for sure, but the red color is starting to come into her eyes. Any guesses to what her origins (country, possible river drainage, etc.) or those of her original ancestors might have been?

Looking good. Clean ocellets on that orino. As for the first place of origin, most likely Colombia. That is where most if not all orinos are coming from now days.
