I really agree with you scorponok. I dont like it either, i dont see why people do it.
King EL is a great exsample in this, tank is very overstocked, even if you have a huge 375g tank and lots of filteration it doesnt mean you are supposed to fill the tank up to the waterlevel of fishes. Dont get me wrong El, i really admire you as a fishkeeper and a polypterus collector, and i love all your fish, but i really dont like the display.

I explained my situation before in my other tread that if I keep less fish in my tank it will end up in Chaos as they will have target to select for their own pleasure of killing. Overstocking helps to prevent that scenario. Did a comm tank with less fish in there and tank was 535g and I lost a lot fish due to that. I've been overstocking my tank because of that. I don't like keeping lots of tank as my power circuit gets overload and shuts off. Very risky when I'm away as the temp might get cold and kill everything that I collected. I actually see more people posting or started a tread that "No...! My fsih killed my other fish...", "My fish ate my other fish..." blah... blah... blah... in a less crowded tank. Lol!

Since when you see a JDM style tank that got those tread started?

What does JDM stand for? I understand you with the polypterus, but all the other fish you put in the tank amazes me, like the loungefish, gars and snakeheads.

Yeah, the Loungefish are something else. They're really lazy.

^ agree bro
IMO king el only wants the best for his fish and collecting pleasure..
if the fish are happy and not suffering then why not..
overstocking is not bad if you feed well, water is good, filtration and tank size is good which in king els case is perfect!
if you want aggressive fish in a comm type tank get used to overstocking.
i tried putting 2 dats.. Fought.. 3.. less fighting..
2 cichla fought.. 3 cichla almost no fighting.
you see just because it looks bad to you does not mean you have to shut down a person with a tank like that.. once you get into certain types of fish you understand what you need to keep them from killing eachother.

because if you train them right, they become like lincoln logs.

imagine a bichir cabin.

Hahaha, careful making a thread like this, people might jump down yer throat and take offense for little reason

But the "overstocked" look does appeal to some. It takes a lot of maintanance to care for such a tank. So IF done right they are magnificant.

I myself prefer the JDM style tanks.

No, actually the OP took a polite approach and simply asked. He didn't call any people's tanks or fish "boring", or some other negative subjective remark. Yes, it is an opinion, but there is no need to blatantly insult someone.

Me too. It's an art and a challenge in one. It's great to see a lot of the time.

Ok not 100 but in a large group. They just bite each other in the tail and causing them to shoot up into tank covers or smash into walls.

I do not understand the practice either, it does not make for an attractive display.

That's because you haven't done so, so those are your assumption. If you keep bichirs in pile, you won't see such problems, and you would understand why. :D
