Let me know if you need some help with the markings..

Speaking of markings Magic does your SKS have a square with a diagonal line through it on the stock???

My M-44 does. I believe it was manufactured in what is now Ukraine.

Wasn't there a site called 7.62x54r.net that showed all the ways to determine where your Nagant was from? I can't find the site anymore.

And for the SKS:

It has a half circle with a 'P' looking thing stamped next to it, only marking on stock i could find that did not appear to be original. Yesterday i had a friend come over to look at it ,and we shot it some more, and we disassembled it completely. The insides look great too! Barely any use, and no corrosion(?) around firing pin i believe was a good sign.

Stock marking could denote a ceremonial gun rather than service (there are a couple weird marks for this which are usually on the stock opposite of other marking.. I think I see it in you pics but can't make it out) This would in many ways explain why yours is so clean and pretty with very smooth bluing and bright bolt carrier.

I looked over the pics and could not see a rework mark on the stock or receiver cover.

Very nice gun... I'd like to see some more pics of the stock markings and if you can break it down and get some pics of the receiver tang and the markings on it. I personally abhor a gun that is not used but if this is a ceremonial gun you may not want to run to many rounds through it to often. These are rather rare and value to a collector could be very high if it is kept bright and clean..

Still questionable if this is what it is though so go out to the range a few more times before we do something like ID it :D (Just be sure to clean her up really good after you use it especially if using corrosive ammo)

ill get some detail pictures later today or tommorow, ill also disassemble it, the insides are very nice :) yeah i haven't put very many rounds through it, it appears to have been used before, some marks on crown and around firing pin, but probably not much. don't worry ive cleaned it really good after each use :) thanks for the info!!!

you notice that it is never the people who actually know about and respect guns that go on killing sprees. I love guns, and have noticed that the more experience you have with them, the safer you are to yourself and people around you
AMEN, YOU NOTICE IT IS ALWAYS SOMEONE IN ANOTHER COUNTRY POINTING FINGERS AT THE US, HOME OF THE FREE AND THE BRAVE

The SKS is pretty nice. This was the last gun that I bought. I bought it when I was in Texas for home defense, then I moved to NY. You cannot possess these in NY, FL, or CA. It just sits in my dad's safe in MI now.

THANK GOD FOR TEXAS

Look foreword to further pics of the rifle and various markings and parts.. I have to say this is one of the nicer Tulas I've seen.

For that matter Vicious_fish you got some more detailed pics of the markings on your 91/30?? This could be kind of cool to look at also...
