I just cant find one anywhere

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My sand is called Super Naturals, not sure what exactly it is though. I know it destroyed 2 HOB marineland filters though. My fluval canister has no trouble with it though. If I can manage to find a bigger tank I may go the pool filter sand route. I'm sure its much cheaper. Ugh I just cant get the Fahaka off my mind. Its ridiculous that this fish is so awesome that I must have it haha. I gotta find a deal on a tank somewhere.

OH AND I GOT AN EMAIL FROM MARK. The listing he has was an old listing and he hasn't had a Fahaka in about a month and not sure when he will get another. The search continues.

If you get a small 2in fahaka it would be ok in that tank for 9 months easy.

When I got Bloat I only had a 55 and he just got moved to his perm home last week. And I believe with proper WC's and filtration I had a few more months

Good to hear. Now to track a baby down!

Yea I know. I just looked around a bit more and I think maybe an Abei puffer will better suit what I have to offer. Still a very beautiful looking puffer, and has an active hunter personality, nice coloring, and will be freshwater throughout its life. Max size I have researched is about 6 inches which I will have more than enough space to offer.

Yea they look awesome, saw some pics on here as well. Kinda looks like the Fahaka except without the yellow. Cool little guys though and some nice pictures of them on here. My tank would be much better, than I wont have to worry about the cost of upgrading down the line. Just have to figure out how to find one of these guys now haha.

I have not read this whole thread, but wanted to say..

Abeis have different personalities than a fahaka...are you sure you want an abei? Plus they are harder to find than fahakas...

Have you asked your local pet store (mom and pop shop) if they can order a fahaka in for you?

fahakas are not that rare, they should be able to get one for you.

I have asked every fish store in a 50 mile radius to no avail. My local one right down the hill is trying, but its been two weeks and no luck. My biggest concern isnt finding the fish, its being able to care for it throughout its growth. The tank in my room currently is a 60, my buddy was going to give me his larger 90, then I would still have to move him to a 120+ when he gets bigger.

Whats the difference between the Fahaka and Abei personality...? Id like to learn more about the Abei. He may be harder to find, but he may suit my tank alot better, and give me an easier time caring for him/her throughout its lifespan.

A 90g is a pretty large space for an abei. Unless you are absolutely positive you will be upgrading, I wouldn't go for a fahaka in that tank either. BW isn't as difficult as you may think & you'd have plenty of time to prepare yourself for SW.
The puffer forum is cool too, but if you don't post any info, your account gets deleted.
