I JUST LOVE THIS TANK!!!! I BOW DOWN TO THEE!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thats pretty cool looking tank of fish

you can't put your prespectives of a human being on that of a fish. you might think it's crowded and uncomfortable but how do you know the fishes aren't enjoying the good life of being in a big tank (you can't say it's a small tank) with a contant supply of food (apparently they're well fed with good color and size).

it's truely the "next level" of fish keeping. no doubt a monster fish keeper tank.

those fish are awesome.

A few things to think about..

Overcrowding supresses aggression, I've done it before, as well as others. If done properly, it should cause little to no stress on the fish, and they should live fine and well.. If a fish can't claim any territory, it will often become a 'defensive' fish, instead of an 'offensive' fish.. Thus, the entire tank has the mindset of 'Ok, lets all play nice..', unlike someone trying to stick 2 oscars in a 90g tank.

The tank is likely around a 1000g, and is probably twice the water volume if you add into filtration. Keeping a barebottom tank clean is not hard.. Especially if you have a water movement to move fish waste from the bottom of the tank, all to one corner, so it can easily be cleaned. I also imagine this person has an automatic water change system plumbed into the tank.

They weren't in different tanks, and placed their for the photo.. If this was the case, there is a good chance the fish would be dashing around, or the oscars would be locking jaws.

and last, but not least..

The far east monster fish keepers, are the ORIGINAL, and creators of the concept of 'Monster Fish Keeping'.. and they have had probably twice as much time and experience as the US counterparts, thus making their methods and techniques likely more advanced than ours. When we were screwing around with Discus and African cichlids in the 70s, they were designing filtration systems and tanks for Arowanas, Oscars, Giant Gouramis, Labeos, Goldfish and Koi..

I wouldn't knock on something that is that badass.. It's for display purposes, it's not like he is trying to build a bio-tope or breed fish.

Thanks for the explaining miles. You have to be in the scene for a while to understand what this is and what its all about . Only then will you understand and appreciate the skill to attain that kind of setup.

Bio load too high.....there must be a very good filtration system to support....
otherwise very often water change needed....
however .... this is wonderful...

Well say about it what you want but I think its ugly and way overcrowded. Next there will be some guy with a fish on a wet towel with tubes in it, feeding and draning its waste and you guys will think its the "next level" of fishkeeping. They may look healthy but that does not make it right IMO. When did keeping fish stop being about the fish and turn into a contest of "Who has the biggest, coolest fish". This is not about the fish because that is not the way fish are ment to live, you cannot appreciate their diverse behaviors and ways of life. Not saying a box is and ideal habitat anyway but you have to draw a line someplace.

I'll open my mind to this as soon as I open my mind to stunting fish and changing their body shapes as an aspect of fishkeeping.
