Whats the best color to use to catch trout and bass ect?

I been using "red" colored spin baits with no luck.


Also, whats the PROPER way to tie a spinbait on a line?

I used to fish with a weight at the bottom, and a hook about 1ft above the weight, and just let it sit there and wait for a bite.

Dont know whats it called, never really got into fishing too much other then to catch. Now im starting to get serious and would like to learn more...but cant find any info.

That whole red thing. I really dont no I seem to do 50/50 with red hooks vs regular. I really dont think it matters with color that much.
