If it is a haitian, from my past experiences, Id keep it in a tank alone until its about 4 or 5 inches. Ive lost many due to stress of other fish messing with it. They get bloat easily from being stressed.

Its hard to tell for me, but Id guess male. My female looked like a little darker than yours before I put her in the tank and like this 15 minutes later:

That's what the other four looked like. I'm so happy, I got the right one. :)
 
Ok, regarding diet, will NLS 1mm pellets and flakes be ok? Polomax, didn't you say one time that a protein rich diet doesn't matter for bloat? I think you said stress was the major factor?
