Hey all, sorry to cause such a ruckuss,
anyway i postponed the arrival of the pups,
they're a gift actually, i dont think i can afford another pair or rays at the moment..

but i admit I gave the wrong impression about putting all the rays into one tank
I've prepared another tank just like that one for the leos..
so I got two identical tanks ...
you can see the bits of the tank on the far left corner of the first pic
but you are all right, its not been cycled for more than 2 days,
so I guess the leos are on hold now
I only have a pH tester in my hand, and goin to LFS to get some more test kits...
what are the ones I should get? Ammonia, Nitrate and what else?

freshwater master test kit from API.... also buy alot of bio spira or turbostart... hope your really stupid mistakes dont kill your rays... cause your failure of research and actually cycling a tank is very bad
 
Ammonia, nitrite and nitrate. Do a search on here for a "fishless cycle" and it will tell you how to get your new tank cycled and ready for fish. Glad to hear there on hold for now and good luck with the new tank.
 
Guys, first of all...
I CANT THANK YOU ENOUGH for keep screaming on the danger that the rays are facing and the disaster that surely would come..

I just tested the rays tank water with the ammonia test kit..
the result is HORRIFIC..
it went all the scale up to blue (starting from light yellow,green-->greenishblue)

that's the only tank I got filled with water so I guess there's not much I can do but more water change everyday until its properly cycled..


Also I've read the thread you posted, Nic, many many thanks for that..

I've got some malaysian leaves and bogwood to lower the pH

any more helpful tips guys, it'd be really REALLY really appreciated,

More biospira also you could see if your lfs or a friend could give you some used biomedia or rehome the rays in turkeyboys tank and that's about all you could do. Glad you did some reading and bought some test kits so you know where we are coming from. I really do think rehoming in turkeyboys tank could mean the life or death of your rays.
 
You really should re home the rays to somebody elses tank.... get your tanks situated and pick them up

Sorry forgot to mention earlier, fresh tap water there got ph 8.5,
the pH in the tank is 8.3 after two days
so I'll risk getting the pH inside the tank even higher if I do water changes...

ok, I guess I'll move them in the new tank in the afternoon..
acclimating them hour by hour..

Why are you gonna keep them in your office if you cant do water changes?
i dont own a ray but I assume that rays are high maintenance animals, that need extremely good water quality because it seems like every ray owner does WC every few days.

How are you suppose to clean your fish tank if you cant do WC
 
That just didn't come out right..
what I meant is not that I cant do water change in the office..
its just that the water comin out of the tap there got pH as high as 8.5
so if I do water change often I was afraid I'm gonna raise the pH in the tank
that's not a big of problem anymore since I got some bog wood and malaysian leaves to lower the pH.
 
so your lowering the PH slowly... not doing enough water changes on a uncycled tank... you might as well just dump a gallon a bleach in the tank and end there suffering
