I need help... and lots of it. Information overload...

I would wait a little while on the rams as they tend to like AGED water, not new setups.

If that's all that you're putting in there I see no problem with the Female Betta. I recently added a Female to my community and have had NO issues.

55 gallon
9 Rummys
9 Cardinals
3 Marble Angels
and others

She kinda stays at the top and plays in the java ferns.

whats the temperature of your set-up?

Should I use Charcoal in this tank? I got an Aquaclear filter and I'm wondering if I should use the charcoal pouch that came with it. I know it takes out medications... wouldn't it take out the nutrients I"m adding to the water?

I didn't think so. I left it out. I would like 2 German Blue rams in this tank and 3 Amano shrimp. I think I'll do away with the Otto's... but what other fish could I put in there that aren't going to bother the rams when they decide to spawn? I've also decided to just do drift wood instead of rocks and driftwood. The rocks would be too big in the 20L. How deep should the substrate be it's 2 inches deep right now. I added a sponge filter that's been in a tank with fish for 8 weeks so it housed a good bacteria bed. I'm using it to seed the new filter I put in there. I moved one of my Male betta's in there to keep the bacteria alive. He won't stay in there forever I've decided. I would like a small school of schooling fish. Anyone have any idea? I'm going to research it... in the meantime does anyone know if Peatmoss will reliably and long term-ly lower PH and where I could get some?
