So everyone here changes their water (a no brainer). But where does the water go? I currently have a python and it drains straight to my sink and down the drain.. I realized this is a HUGE waste of water.. And in the summer I need to water my grass Anyways... So I need a way to drain the water outside my window...Is this possible? Any ideas of how I can do this?I want to do this because one its great fertilizer... 2 is that i dont have to turn on my sprinklers as much doing so... So if anyone has an idea PLEASe HELP! :) THANK YOU!

It's very simple. Buy a sump pump from home depot, they're cheap. Then get yourself enough garden hose to go where you want. Then you can put a sprinkler on the other end of the hose if you want. (and if your pump creates enough pressure)

Is there a way i can do this while using a gavel vacuum? I understand a Sump pump will suck out the water... but i want to use somehow get all the dirt out of the gravel as well..

Spent tank water is the best water for a garden if you have one. You'd be amazed how much better your veggies grow with that many nitrates in the water.

well.. Yes but I primarily would like to do this for the grass. No offense to my fish but i dont really think its a good idea to be eating the vegetables that are fertilized with their excretes.

Im guessing the best idea is to get a pump with 2 heads wthat can connect to a hose and just siphon it out using that method..

I just use my python, syphon the water out my window when I do waterchanges over 20%. You don't HAVE to have it hooked up to the faucet, running down the drain. just let gravity do what it does...

Or you could use the python to vacuum as normal and then pump the rest out the window. And fish poop has been used as fertilizer for literally hundreds of years. What's worse, fish poop or the chemical cocktail used to make miracle grow?
