I need help for this Idea for Water Changing.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I have a python hooked up to a Thermoplastic Submersible Utility Pump and put the other end of the python in my bath tub when draining the tank and then fill up the bath tub(make sure the temp the same as the tank) and pump the water back in to the tank.

I see. So you also agree with attaching the siphon to a pump and pumping it out my window. or door.

I just purchased a transfer pump from wayne pumps. It comes with an low water suction attachment. I have not used the pump yet (arrived yesterday) but with the new attachments that I put on aqueon water changer I will unscrew the gravel vac portion of the vacuum and attach it to the transfer pump and vacuum the bottom while pumping out the water. I don't know if the pump will have enough power to attach a sprinkle but I'm sure you would be able to water garden or plants. Here is a link to the transfer pump and there is a video on the web showing the put used for aquarium water changes.
http://www.farmandfleet.com/products...l#.UT0O91cRurA , this pump comes in 12v or 115v. I have not tried the pump yet but I do believe that it will work. I was searching for a way to change water quicker without wasting water and this is what I came up with.

Well I just used this set-up tonight and it work great. I did water changes in a 150, 75, and 55 in 1.5hr and usually takes around 3hrs to do these. The pump worked great as a gravel vac as well as a pump. If this is in your budget, I would really consider purchasing this pump to do your water changes. It is a time saver and water saver.

Whoa. I'm not sure how long it takes a 150 gallon but I have a 75 and 55... It takes me no longer than 30 minutes for both.. And thats by a non water powered siphon ...

well yeah I guess. but i think it'll be fine if i put it through a pump. I just need to figure out how to put my python to a pump.. or a hose if anything is easier

I went to Menards and got a couple of quick release fittings for hoses to attach my pump to my python. Worked great because I was using tank water to syphon out more tank water.
