I don't think he should have had to call TFD to get an idea of when it would arrive. TFD should have called him to let him know it was shipped. Especially if they know full well that the airport isn't going to call him.

IMHO, TFD owes him replacement fish or a refund. And an apology for insulting him. That is no way to treat your customers.

Call on Delivery means you will pick it up. It does not mean they will call you.
 
You guys have no Idea what you are accomplishing with these kind of threads.

TFD and every other shipper is watching this and soon we will not be able to buy at these great prices.

You guys wonder why they have a min..... it's to try and keep regular hobbyist from wasting their time.

Can anyone give me the name of another wholesaler that will sell to people without a store front? I can tell you that I've looked and I haven't found any.

I have a good relationship with TFD and what you are doing won't hurt me and my ability to buy from them.

I think that the vendors should start a thread and tell about all the stupid things customers do and then name them so we can all say how bad they are.

Why didn't you just call and talk to Joe?

I was told that when the shipper writes a notify on arrival phone number on the form, that they (the cargo company, southwest in this case) would call me to let me know that my package had arrived. When I called and told Joe this his response was that "it doesn't mean that they will actually do it." Implying, at least to me, that I shouldn't have trusted them to call me. Well then their employee shouldn't have told me that they would call me.
 
Repair... did you not start as a "regular hobbyist" or did ya just jump in at30 or so tanks. A customer should be treated well, because ya should want the repeat business. I 'm not sure who is right or wrong here but at this point, this regular hobbyist won't order from TFD
 
Customers should be treated well, with respect - and in business I've heard many times "the customer is always right" - to do well in business to avoid such things, instead of counting on MFK's helping them brush "incidents" under the rug.........
 
I am still a regular hobbyist, I have got 25 of my tanks in the last 3 years.

I do group orders for the guys in Indy and I have been able to get in with 3 wholesalers for tanks and dry goods but TFD is the only wholesale fish supplier that I have found that will work with people that do not have a store front.

I just look at these posts and wonder about customers that want to buy at 1/3rd the cost but don't want to accept any responsibility.

Why would you email a business instead of calling them? they called them to place the order why not call to talk about a problem?

I did call and talk to Joe, in addition to emailing him. I am really not trying to scare wholesalers from selling to individuals, and I really appreciate Joe's great selection and prices (they are the best I've ever seen). And I know I'm a small drop in the bucket of his total business. I just think that customers at any level deserve a certain level of respect and fairness that I did not receive. They knew I had never shipped airport to airport before, and if they don't want to sell to a small fish like myself then they are free to set their minimum order at $500 or $1000. But as long as they do want to sell to us, I want the same respect their other clients get. That's all I'm asking.
