Yes, and how about a faq post about vendors and "Yea or Nay" experiences.

I didn't mean about vendors, I meant for people buying so they know what to do when ordering something airport to airport. Yeah or Nay section is an ok idea but you have alot of people who only tell one side.

In this subject I think it was both sides fault. One side should know that if it's a 2 hour flight and fragile fish are being shipped thursday one should call thursday to see if chance the came in or call joe to see when they were sent. Also maybe joe should put his own airport/airport shipping faq on his site.

As we all should expect vendors to step up to the plate if they truly valued us customers, but unfortunately we've found that this isn't the case sometimes. Hence the almighty buck.

I admit I didn't call on Thursday to check to see if they were shipped, but in my defense, I was told they would be shipped Thursday or Friday, and I would get a phone call when they got there, so it was just kind of natural to assume they would be shipped out the next day, since I hadn't gotten a call yet.

If the selling party does not call you when arrival has occured or given you a timeframe window for pickup......how in the hell are you supposed to know when to p/u your fish???????:confused:...did i miss something..........do they expect you to camp out on the tarmac eagerly awaiting your fish??

your correspondence to the company (e-mails) seemed very professional, their responses were not!! maybe they need to attend a little customer service training!!

~~~~Just a neutral observation~~~~::)
this is pretty crappy. i think that if what you say is true, then TFD should not charge you for the dead fish. i will anxiously be awaiting a reply from TFD to see if he has a different tale, but from what we can go on, which is what you have provided, that is what should happen, though it is unlikely to happen.
i do know that if they do not respond at all i would never order from this vendor. good luck.
Exactly! I did camp out by the phone for 2 days, since the airport was 40 minutes away... and hyper-excited guys milling around the airport for days would probably make people nervous.
Legally I think that it would be hard to do anything against TFD, because the part in question was all verbal and not in writing.
From my own experience, I have only ordered once airport to airport and it was with TFD. When I placed my order TFD told me what day the plane would be arriving and I think that they gave me the flight number. I confirmed with TFD that day that my fish made it out and also found out where it would be arriving. There was bad weather the day it was coming in, so I ended up calling the airport receiving company about every hour, until I had a definite time on the arrival. I ended up beating the plane and sat around the airport for about an hour while they unloaded the packages. I wanted to make sure that there was no way that they would have any time sitting around at the airport.
Sorry for you losses, but it sounds good that a large percentage of your fish were able to pull through.
This is probably the only mistake you made. I would have asked TFD to call you once they had been shipped, seems to me if that had been the case all would be well now.
Congrats on a well though out proffessional type post, this leads to a great discussion instead of a flame war. It does not seem to me that you are trying to bring down anyone. Well done. I would expect to see TDFs reply shortly.
As for the fish, since I got them home three more have died (a threadfin, a neon tetra, and a transparent knife). Because I know they only guarantee live arrival I am not asking for these fish to be replaced, though I know sitting in cargo storage for a day probably had something to do with it.
