I know the feeling! My big male absolutely FREAKS ME OUT! I couldn't make a louder sound than him banging the tank if I hit it with a bat. Even feeding him has become a little scary. I'm glad he's in an acrylic tank.

That's one gorgeous fish you have. If you can't find anyone to take your fish off your hands, I know more than one skilled aquarist who would take good care of him. Shipping?

To be honest I have a new appreciation for Dovii. Until you see a hulking 20" dovii pissed off and crashing the glass with your own eyes, you really don't grasp how much raw strength they have. Wish I could ship but wont'..sorry.

That sucks balton, thats a beauty of a dovii. Its a F1 from rapps right? Post up that video i watched on youtube. Thats how I found out about MFK.

I helped bring you to MFK? That's awesome.

Here's the vid.

[YT]<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/iSMXR3UV2GI&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/iSMXR3UV2GI&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>[/YT]

This was last year. He's grown a couple of inches and added some girth since this vid.

so are you asking if you should sell it or if selling it is what everybody thinks you should do...

if it's 5/8" glass he is not going to break it.

I always love watching that vid. Its really too bad you have to get rid of him. Is that a male festae in that vid with him? It looks male but acts like it wants to breed. I Have an F1 from rapps too and he's only 9" at the moment and he doesnt show any signs of aggression like yours. Hmm.. so i wonder if he'll turn out psycotic too. Good luck with yours wish you could keep him. Maybe sell your glass tank and get an acrylic.

Sorry to hear he's chargin the glass but I'm sure the last thing your family needs is 265 gal's of glass pieces all over the floor...........I've actually experienced that from fish spitting out rocks at the glass and it's not fun. It's definately hard to keep large monsters no doudt. I'd personally luv to keep Hydrolycus Scomberoides but unfortunatly even at 200+ gal. they only last me a year and stunt out.........not enough roaming room for a 4ft. fish..............might be why the Dovii charges the glass.............either or it's been wonderful seeing your Dovii here and I'm sure it's the right desicion............family first.

Sad part is that there is little chance whoever buys him will have a bigger tank than your 265, your wife may be happy to be rid of him, but he will be in a smaller home

That's actually a male Festae in with him, he was raised from a juvie with the Dovii. After he finally reached maturity, the Dovii made mincemeat of him. Now he's separated from the Dovii and has a female.

Thanks for sympathizing. On those threads where guys say they would pick their fish over their family must be full of sh** or have a crappy relationship. And it didn't help that my wife saw what he'll eventually grow into.

Hey now, take it easy. I already feel guilty enough. :(
