Good point, and even though I agree with Balton that you can't really compare a dog to a fish it doesn't reduce our responsibility in keeping them appropriately.

In Balton's case, though, I think he's clearly a conscientious fishkeeper. I'm sure "we" can find this fish a nice home! :naughty:

Thanks chc. I WILL find him an equal or better home than he has with me.

I take my fish pretty seriously, if I buy a fish he pretty much stays with me, ask my clown loaches I got 5 years ago.
I've had fish for years and years too. I kept my GT for over 8 years before he passed. Not saying I'm a better or as good a fishkeeper as you, but I do take my fish seriously. Why else would I be doing water changes every week, month after month, year after year without fail? Spending my time and money to care for them.

I imagine, I will have my dovi for years to come, barring any major catastrophe, oh well to each his own. :clap:clap Hurray for you.

That is one of the reason I think LI is a good fishkeeper, he keeps his fish to maturity, and enjoys them. The fun is not buying a big fish, it is raising him yourself. Don't compare me to Li. I'l be the first to admit I'm not in the same league as him. Not even on the same planet as far as fishkeeping. BUT, I've bred fish from eggs and raised them to maturity btw.

I have one question, what pet would you consider "in line" with a fish that you have kept for over a year, since my dog comparison was so over the top for you? I am curious to see what would be comparable for you. I'm not sure what I can compare a fish to. Not quite as substantial as a dog. But more so than a hamster or guinea pig.

thanks

Good luck on finding your nice fish a home.

Hmm.. Are you sure it's not caused by him seeing his own reflection in the glass?
My gt's do it alot when i have all 4 lights on inside the tank, but when i turn them all off except my red tinted one they stop doing it and act normal..
In my experience the decor of the tank factors a lot too. Like for instance white sand like many people use, reflect the light back, and into the glass, more so than black gravel would for instance.

What you do know is that he doesn't bang the glass for no reason. Obviously there are reason to why he does it, and i think you should look into eliminating some possible factors, one by one.

Maybe it's just me, but i'd try heaps of different things to sort out any issue in my tank or with my fish, so i can keep them untill they pass one day.

Lets keep this a positive thing and steer clear of the negative comments. I don't know many people who have a 265gal fish tank for a wet pet.

Balton do what you need to do man, and good luck! :)

It's not his reflection that he's attacking. I don't keep the lights on during the day. I open the blinds on a big window and the room is filled with natural daylight which doesn't put his reflection on the inside of the tank.

My wife is always saying she's sick and tired of my stupid Dovii. She's scared to go in the fishroom for fear of the tank breaking while she's next to it. :screwy:

Thanks yall. I really appreciate it. Everything is going to be fine. I'll sell the Dovii and get some awesome new fish to take his place.

I've been thinking of ordering a pair of something really cool from Rapps. Just don't know what yet.

He has some 6" Jags in. That might do the tric for you. If you ever want to try Frontosa let me know. I have quite a few tanks full.
