bc they are so active and mean it sounds like they are much better suited for a very large aquarium or a pond.

That's absolutely true! He scared the CRAP out of me a couple of times. It happened the same way every time and was like it was in slow motion. I'd go to feed the pond and wouldn't notice him under the hyacinth, and then all hell would break loose..... I can still see his toothy, snapping face BLASTING out of the water right at my nose!
Then the problem was catching him while he was flopping around in the dirt!!!

At least I know the pipe is 18"...... Pipes don't bite!
By the way, if someone thinks they have a big fish, just take a picture of it. Blow it up on your computer until it prints out at "X" inches in length, and then go tape it on your tank. Do that until you get a 2 foot dovii (yes, it will take more than one sheet of paper) and you'll likely see that a 24" dovii is muuuuuuuuuuch bigger than just about any you've seen!
