Wow never saw anything like it:confused: IBD I would say its not the culprid. It seems to me something major in the endocrine sistem, what? Good question.

Yeah for it to get so swollen so suddenly like that? Had to be some sort of rapid infection or organ failure... The mention of black fluid at the start was making me think of bile but I'm not sure if snakes have black bile, and what would cause it to do that is beyond me...

The Black fluid was Blood at one point in time.........Bile is yellowish green, and stays that way for a while after death.......

Thanks for the support guys.

Any idea what this could be though? I have been talking to the guy caring for my animals and he said that the Eyelash vipers have been acting strange (sitting on the ground and the female has dirt in her mouth). Probably unrelated but it still raises the question on whether or not it is related....

Hummm weird:confused: Are the temps ok? Could it be to hot on your rep room(just regarding the vipers, still no clue for the boa)?

I thought that too since I cut off the AC but I told Mike to turn it back on if it got too hot and it has been raining a lot there so I think the temps shouldnt have been over 85º ambient. Anyways since I thought the same thing, i asked him to turn the AC on today so I will see if that fixes anything.

Whenever you have Arboreals go to the ground, the temps are too hot - cold air sinks, warm air rises.........

Terribly sorry about your loss, but its not IBD. IBD "stargazing" is normally traced by breeders at the snakes birth. Seeing that she had a thick black fluid coming out of her, If she was blowign snot bubbles, had labored breathing and whezed when she breathed she very well could have had a massive respiratory infection, which was (if caught early) reversable with Batril.
