Its a red spot severum or red severum . They grow about 10" and minium tank should be a 55 if kept singly . My brother has one in a 29 sadly stunted to about 7" . They can be best sexed by venting . In order to breed they need to be crossed with a gold severum or their fry will not survive.

Curious to why you say they have to be bred with a Gold.

Severums and convicts do pretty good together... 55 would work for a bit but eventually there WILL be problems.

How much do they commonly cost?

-Andrew

More than the average severum, I've seen 30 bucks for smaller ones, but one that big could be much more,
Edit: sorry I'm thinking of super red severums, red spot gold severums are usually cheaper than that but still more than regular severums

I would not put it in a 55, severum get too big.

It wouldn't eat your convicts either, severum are pretty well tempered for the most part.

They're labeled Red faced Golds around here& the biggest I've seen for sale was a 3.5" $30
I see 1-1.5" ones all day for $8-$10
