Just giving this guy another run through for last opinions. Is it a hybrid, SP peru, and just covered under the Mantilla belt?

It's wild caught, so if it IS a hybrid it's a naturally occuring one.

I'de say it's a light morph Mantilla. Looks very similar to my "Mantilla" just a lot lighter........

IF you ever decide you want to part with it you could sell it to the guy that tried to get it before you ;) I'm sure he'd love to try to breed it with his "Mantilla" :)

Very pretty ray........ Best of luck with him.

Did you decide to keep your female?

Yup...... I loose money EVERY time a ray leaves my house. Getting tired of it. If someone else owns it, it's worth a ton, if you're selling it, it isn't worth shibby........

There's what? Like 2 known "Mantillas" over here now?? And I'm being told she's not even worth what I payed.

I just thought someone might be interested in breeding a ray like this, as I honestly don't see myself ever getting a male that's man enough for this big girl. But judging by market value I guess it's worth more to me than it is to anyone else..... So she'll continue to be ruler of my pond, hoping to meet price charming someday....... LOL

Ruler of the pond LOL! She would probably eat this guy because he is only 8 -9 inches and is not even close to being mature. I am like you though, I want what no one else has.

She is man.... LOL If I don't feed AT LEAST once a day (like if I'm out of town for the weekend) she gets wicked. I'll get back home and feed and she will storm around biting the other rays and taking thier food till they are all huddled into one corner of the pond. Once she's full then she'll allow them to eat. The Marble female I have has got probobly an inch or 2 on her (across) and she allready knows to drop the food and swim quickly in the opposite direction if swiftly approached by "Darkness"

That's why I said I don't know if I'll ever find a male to breed her with, as he'de have to be 16-18 inches just to survive that fiasco.

But I agree 100% on the rare part. My favorite ray I've ever owned is just "a plain ol Motoro" that I can't seem to find a pic of one even close to similar.

So is this stallion of yours in with other rays or do you have him in isolation?

He is with a 7 inch male motoro, 8 inch female motoro, 8 inch female flower ray, and a 8-9 inch male castexi. Eventually I will introduce my 2 female marble motoros in the mix and would like to add one more female jaguar or high spot otorongo then I am done. Of course I said I was done when I bought my first 3 rays LOL! My castexi and him spend most of the day swimming up and down the front of the tank were my other rays are happy on the bottom.

Wow, multiple species eh? True flower? How big is the tank?
