If you bought fish from me and I sent you those would you be happy? I wouldn't. The purpose of culling is to remove bad genetics, which they have, no reason to bred fish like that and have more bad fish. Guy just brought me a batch of Geo tapajos, I culled 20% that had short gill plates and /or were scrawny. No need feeding fish that don't measure up. Ken

Yeah, not sure what the short bodied craze of late is. I guess if the person selling this is making sure they are labled as such then to each there own. If someone wants to buy them after that that is there choice. If I ordered fish that were supposed to be normal and healthy I would be very unhappy if that's what I got though. Seems like breeding for these things just worsens the gene pull, but I guess if there is demand for them people are going to breed them and sell them. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

It's the Asian market, ballon belly, short body, ect, I really don't have a problem as long as the fish are sold as such, and people know what they are getting. I even like the Flowerhorns that look like real fish. But here's some $100 beauties! Hey JD he's asking $120 for these short body carpintis! I have no idea what the parrot cross came from. Ken

Holly crap!!! That poor GT looks like it can't even swim. Well I'm certainly not a fan but I guess someone is buying them. Just think Ken, you are culling $100 fish left and right . I guess some people have different tastes then us.

I've never seen the BP like that. Looks like some really pearled FHXBP cross. I bet those are going for a fortune. Way to mutated looking for me, but stunning colors on them.

Ballon belly/short spine is a common defect, I see it a lot, just can't bring myself to save those. I've even caught a wild uropthalmus with a short body. Ken

i saw these from petco weeks ago. They look like pink convicts but have thicker body. so i asked them what these are, they answered: hybrid of parrot x pink convict.

See those around Las Vegas alot. They aren't that expensive, but I do admit they do look nice. I won't get any though. Give me a pure Midas anyday.

wow Ken, so much for not deraialing my thread.

i was just asking for an ID and it seems like everyone is still uncertain...

I thought i did a good cause and saved these fish. in yours eyes, i should feed them to my ray.

so again is this a parrot x pink convict or just a pink convict? i see both traits of fish...

BTW they seem healthy to me. swim normally, eat normally, and are active and not aggressive to each other or tank mates. no signs of swim bladder problems. and if the orange patches or females then there are 4f and 2M. one pair already courting...

ken, you ever see ugly parents have good looking offsprings? or good looking parents having ugly offsprings? it happens to humans and to other species....so why not let them breed by "natural selection" instead of you selecting? never know these ofsprings could be better than any of your "selective breeding" style batches...

also thats how they looked day one when i got them. they looked neglected...as of today they are fatter on the bottom and far more healthy...
