If a Dovii were going to be a psychotic killer....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ya exactly my thought too tho is that when u get a juvie even if it is supposed to be a killer if u raise it with bigger fish normally itll be more docile than lets say the same species of fish that is raised in a tank by itself but u never know sometime cichlids can just snap

I feel very lucky right now. We'll see how it works with the Jag. He runs for his life from the Dovii even though the Dovii isn't flaring or anything. He definitely seems very comfortable with tankmates.

I'd run from that dovii too if I were a jag. :D

So, can I have him?

With his huge teeth, I hope he doesn't.

I haven't personally ever seen a dovii that can be kept in a community tank but it's not an impossibility, I would just do this with the knowledge that he could snap one day and wind up killing all of your fish - most dovii I've ever heard of stop tolerating tank mates at around 8"...

I going to keep an eye on everything and switch them back if I have to.

So is there NO ONE who's had a community tank with a Dovii?

It's funny they don't all run from him. Only the Jag. The others act like he's just any other fish.

That is really cool. I hope this dovii stays layed back for you. Given the background info and the fact that he is already past that magic mark where most dovii snap and go crazy, I think he will.

Good luck for sure and please keep us updated.
