If I were to get a Arowana.....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
sorry to hear. disregard my "opinion" on asians as you can't keep them, anyway, lol (and it's not entirely correct).

Thanks everyone for your replies, if I am able to get the other tank in a couple of months I will have more questions but at this time I will not be able to get one...but am happy with the 150 I just got!

It's called a hobby. Ppl will invest in anything which they like and which they feel worth it. Thus there's no right nor wrong.

And as for 3cm thickness for 8 footer tank... yes that's alittle over do it.

like i said, don't take it the wrong way. I decided i will get 72In by 30 by 30.
which is 200gal empty, more like 180gal with water in. I was also told 2cm glass would be needed.
I wrote the post with a sense of irony, mainly because the numbers keep going up and up.

that 72x30x30 is like a 280 not 200

72inx30inx30in=64800in cubed. devided by 321 =201.869gallons. this is the correct formula isn't it?
1 gallon of water weighs approx 8.32 lbs, x 200= 1664lbs
thickness of glass dependent on tank size, dimentions and gallons cubed seems to be a rule of thumb known only to tank builders.

:confused:errrrm, i'll get back to you.

I stand corrected 72x30x30=64800in cubed, devided by 231=280. 8.32lbs x 280gal=2329.6lbs. that's without the tank too!!!!:jaw:
simple mistake, i got the numbers mixed up, i always hated maths!:duh:
After i take my foot out of my mouth it looks like i'll be getting a 280gallon tank:drool:

Even more amazing, 280gallons of water is over 1 tone in weight!!!!
