:confused:errrrm, i'll get back to you.

I stand corrected 72x30x30=64800in cubed, devided by 231=280. 8.32lbs x 280gal=2329.6lbs. that's without the tank too!!!!:jaw:
simple mistake, i got the numbers mixed up, i always hated maths!:duh:
After i take my foot out of my mouth it looks like i'll be getting a 280gallon tank:drool:

Lol, congrats. At least it didn't end up being 80 gal smaller. That would ahve been upsetting.

my jar got to 20" in my 180 gal and still had plenty of room, even when turning around (which really doesnt make sense) it's the way jars swim that allows them to live in 2' wide/deep tanks...love the way they arch then turn..Grr i want mine back lol!!

i think the 240-280 is plenty of room for the silver but 500 would be awesome. i think most people who have arowanas dont know what they are doing... my friend has his in a 55 for years.... i feel bad for the arow..... but if someone gets a 125+ i think that arow got lucky and has at least 125 to swim in rather then most peoples silvers in 55. 180 might not be enough room for the fish but its lucky to have that... thats what i say

I am yet to own one but there are plenty around to see, for me the draw with aro is watching them swim. Thai's can be cruel with pets (massive sweeping generalization).
There is a guy near me and he has 2 aros in different tanks, they are both big enough and I could watch them all day when they have room to move.
I do apologise for my miss calculations prior to this thread and have based all my mentioned dimensions using an incorrect formula to estimate gallons in tanks.
280 is the way to go for an Asian of any type IMLO.
