I'm baaaaack

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
So after reading one of the other threads about bright lights bringing out the colors, I switched up my light to the high setting and I'm definitely seeing a lot more greens in some of the polys, they also don't seem bothered by the extra light. So I snapped a few pictures, these were the only ones that came out... my phone camera lens is cracked so it's hard to get pictures that don't have horrible glare :P

The big endli:

The palmas polli, who I think is pretty awesome.. kind of reminds me of a bulldog with fins haha:

And the congi, because congi:

And a semi decent picture of the ansorgii... pardon the water spots, apparently when the lights are on that bright you pick of every drop of water that has ever touched the glass:

How do you like the green color on them?
I'm digging it... the palmas polli really lit up. Surprisingly the teug didn't color up as much as I thought it would. The LJs didn't seem to change coloration much but it's only been a day or so, so who knows. Either way, they don't seem stressed out by it, and the higher light makes it a lot easier to see more details so I think I'm going to stick with it :) Maybe we'll see some other shades changing as time goes on

I mean it do look really bad in person but in camera they look like green lanter, lolz
Took me like 4 days to get used to it, cause im used to seeing them with grey or tan base color.

Haha honestly what really got me interested in teugs was the green coloration, but I'm not sure if it's my substrate (probably) or lighting but I've never seen it get there. It stays pretty much cream colored and brown all the time. The ljs pretty much consistently look awesome though (another point for Ljs I guess haha)

Did you try to take out your cover and leave the light on, i tried that and the poly look much better, they have the same bright pattern with less green base color, but be carefull cause polys might jump out:D

Actually my cover is just some light diffusers with screen on them (don't worry, I've got a 5 foot long piece of 2 inch pvc holding the lids down so nobody is jumping out). It's not passing through glass or anything so there's very little reduction in light. Hoping it just takes a little more time :) Everyone still looks great, the changes just weren't super stark, and my camera magically washes out every photo >:(
