While I understand where your comming from on the bike issue....I have to tell you that at least here in Southern California and Arizona as well it's impossible to drive anywhere in town or on the freeway without bikes cutting between lanes... popping wheelies away from the lights...and treating cars like nothing more than cones on an obsticle course.

By the way....before you try to claim that only a VERY few riders do that...The facts tell otherwise. Out of every 20 bikes I see on the road I'm luck to find ONE that's actully obaying the traffic laws.
 
If it's a first offence with a relitivly clean driving record I seriously doubt that you'll get maximum. I know in AZ it varies a great deal with where you are and who pulls you over.
I was nailed about 15 years ago with a 350.00 fine for doing 55 in a 35 mph zone.

Two years later I was nailed for 135 in a 55 by the AZ highway patrol on a deserted streach of freeway and was told to behave myself....
 
You can most likely "divert" a first offense....You will pay 250 And not be able to get in trouble for a year. If you offend in any way in that year, you will face both charges....

135? If I got nailed for 135, I am pretty sure I would be told to behave myself too. By a person on the other side of the bars.
