135? If I got nailed for 135, I am pretty sure I would be told to behave myself too. By a person on the other side of the bars.

Me too!!!!! I hate the driving laws here, mainly because everyone drives like morons and gets away with it. Then you do something like you did and they catch you while there are worse offenders right under their noses.

how about DONT BREAK THE LAW!

its set for a reason, there should be no exceptions, two wrongs dont make a right. law breakers like that always do it again, so eventually they will get caught.

most ive even gone over was 10 mph, and thats cause i wasnt paying attention to my speedometer :nilly::WHOA::nilly:

Aparently in Virginia, if your gion 18mph over the speed limit, you face similar charges to a DUI ( 3,500$ + fees, and up to 1 year in jail) My court case is next month...

And there wasnt anybody on the freeway cept the mustang that flew by me. I guess the cop didnt see the mustang, just me...

Thats some BS! In michigan for 19 over I got a $100 ticket and got the points taken off my license....And I was racing my buddy on a busy street.

In NJ I've been pulled over for 21, 26, and 41 over and walked away every single time. Guess they do it differently down south.

Ive had quite a few run ins with the cops for speeding charges, granted 18mph over isnt reckless so thats going to help you. Since youve said there was literally no traffic out, just talk to the judge and be like "hey look, there was literally no traffic out...and I was just cruising down the road listening to whatever and just wasnt paying attention to my speedometer, I doubt I was going that fast....when was the last time the cop had his radar calibrated because I just cant see how I was going that fast" which from what youve said is essentially the truth. Besides in the state of VA, most of the time if your ticket is under 20 over, you have the option of pre-paying your fines. I got one a few months ago for 15 over in town limits, and had to pay around 135bucks over the phone for it.

While I understand where your comming from on the bike issue....I have to tell you that at least here in Southern California and Arizona as well it's impossible to drive anywhere in town or on the freeway without bikes cutting between lanes... popping wheelies away from the lights...and treating cars like nothing more than cones on an obsticle course.

By the way....before you try to claim that only a VERY few riders do that...The facts tell otherwise. Out of every 20 bikes I see on the road I'm luck to find ONE that's actully obaying the traffic laws.

In cali it is legal to white line, the wheelies on the other hand, i cant defend.

oh, i fergot to mention i was going well over the 18mph over mark, i was doin 90 on the freeway. In Texas i did 90 on the freeways all the time and only got pulled over once and given a warning. but here i guess the freeway was 55mph limit on a 8 lane freeway !!!

Thanks for the replys, i spoke with a lawyer who said he will try and reduce the price and reduce the time in jail. and he has a good record of reducing sentences like mine. It also doesnt help that i am military in a military town, where other service members have set a bad rep for us adn the police are"crackin down" on service members that are "out of hand" If i was out of hand that trooper wouldnt have caught me, or id be dead.

I really dont think the punishment matches the crime in this case...

that sucks, in GA its 25 or over you get your lisence taken but no jail time. good thing i dont live in virgina or id be paying lots of money or in jail 4 times :D
