I'm still tempted to get a catfish

get a lace cat it will keep your tanks bottom pretty clean and the bigger they get the less shy they get and if you are gonna get a bigger tank then this is the cat you want.

hes already overstocked... no room in there for a catfish atm.. get a bigger tank ( more towards a 75 range ) then think about getting a cat.
Problem is I'm not sure how soon I'll be able to upgrade, might be a good long while. I think for now I'm stuck unless I can get rid of the convicts, but I kind of like them and they're absorbing a lot of the JD's bull.
LBF, as far as I'm concerned, you're WAY over stocked and can't properly care for your fish anyways; as I understand you have 2 oscars a breeding pair of cons a firemouth & a few other little dudes in about 75 gallons of water that you can finally heat but you still can't change consistently. Right? Kindly GTFO. Thanks.
Let it be man. Dont add anything else. Your fish will grow and fill out the space in the tank you see as free right now.
I would agree your overstocked a bit and I might get rid of the convicts but thats just me. The bichnirs should be enough activity along the bottom as they continue to grow.

Yeah its not that I see space. I see a full tank, I'm well aware of the fact that I'm on the heavy side of stocking, although I wouldn't go as far as saying OVER stocked.
I just want a catfish. I think it would basically have to be a trade of the two convicts for the catfish at minimum, but I'm not sure I want to do that. I'll more than likely wait until I can move up to a 125-150 (180 if I'm lucky
) and get a school of pictus cats in addition to the current stock.

) and get a school of pictus cats in addition to the current stock.Your not overstocked right now only since they are still juvies but as they grow that is too much for that tank. I would wait till you upgraded though and then add pictus as they are active all of the time and a fun cat to watch

um moloch im NOT overstock by any means.... my stock has nothing to do with your thread, i have 2 oscars ( 1 oscar min of 75 gallons then 1 oscar for every 25 gallons after ) 1 sev 2 firemouths..... but has NOTHING to do with your stock, you are worse then i am when it has to do with stocking... so NO dont get any catfish!
LBF I would have to disagree with you. While in a perfect world you are overstocked but not that bad the fact that you ar elimited to maintenance on the tank leads to a pretty unsafe tank environment IMHO. 2 oscars in anything less then a 125 is asking for trouble water/waste wise. Hell I am able to change my water twice a week, vac poop out daily, and I am at the thresh hold of good care. I also turn my water over 9x+ times an hour.
