I'm not looking for an argument either, I just like to hear the reasoning behind apparently random opinions. Makes them a lot less random, and shows the thought process that led to the conclusion. Seems like the OP is just trying to make an informed decision, If he just wanted yes/no, he could have made a poll.

I don't think the tank is overstocked yet though, the fish are still juveniles, and he has plans up upgrade and/or split fish out. If they were all full grown I'd probably agree, but he's got a fair amount of time before that becomes an issue.

um moloch im NOT overstock by any means.... my stock has nothing to do with your thread, i have 2 oscars ( 1 oscar min of 75 gallons then 1 oscar for every 25 gallons after ) 1 sev 2 firemouths..... but has NOTHING to do with your stock, you are worse then i am when it has to do with stocking... so NO dont get any catfish!

The only problem is with the striped raphael cat, you'll never see it. You'll hear it occasionally, but seeing it requires one turning on the lights suddenly in the middle of the night, or if your lucky, watching the tank with the lights off.

yeah I have two striped raphael cat's and I never... ever see them... sometimes they pop out when I put food in, but usually I just get to see them if I pick up the rock they are hiding in...

Well, I broke down and bought two pictus cats. Gotta decide over the next week or so what I'm gonna do about the bioload. I think the most logical thing is to say goodbye to the convicts. Everything might be fine though if I scrape up the cash for an extra filter. At least for a good while, there's plenty of space at the moment.

Why not get a small breeder tank and breed the convicts to raise live feeders for the others...

I have a 20 with a breeding pair of convicts. The 2 convicts I'm contemplating rehoming are both females. They're the leftover from putting 1 male to 3 females and waiting for a pair

Trouble is (of course) I've sort of grown attached to them Especially since one hangs out with my larger bichir all day
